Pro-war Russian blogger ceases activity after critical Oleshky evacuation post
Vladimir Romanov, a pro-war military blogger with over 150,000 Telegram followers, stopped posting after criticizing the Oleshky ceasefire and evacuation as unfavorable to Russia. He had claimed only four buses carried evacuees to Russia, unlike 17 buses that went to Ukraine, implying low local support for Moscow. His current whereabouts remain unknown as of early November 2026. Russian and Ukrainian officials acknowledged limited evacuation numbers during the October 27-November 1 ceasefire, which enabled aid delivery and civilian evacuations.

Vladimir Romanov, a popular Russian military blogger known for his pro-war stance and managing the Telegram channel "Romanov Lite" with more than 150,000 subscribers, has ceased posting online since October 31, 2026. This followed his critical comments about the recent ceasefire and humanitarian mission in the occupied Ukrainian town of Oleshky. Romanov's October 29 post, later deleted, claimed that only four buses with residents had left Oleshky for Russia during the ceasefire, contrasting with 17 buses evacuating people to Ukrainian-controlled territory. He suggested that media coverage might obscure this fact by showing more buses bound for Russia but with curtained windows. The blogger's statement aligned broadly with reports from Newsmax correspondent Alex Salvi, who also indicated minimal departures to Russia, hinting at scant pro-Moscow sentiment in Oleshky. Romanov, typically based in Sevastopol, Crimea, has not been publicly seen or heard from since his last activity. Russian Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantranova confirmed earlier that while preparations existed to evacuate up to 750 civilians to Russia, many buses returned largely empty. Meanwhile, Ukrainian Human Rights Commissioner Dmytro Lubinets stated that both sides agreed not to disclose the exact number of Oleshky residents who left during the ceasefire. The ceasefire, active from October 27 to November 1, was credited to U.S. First Lady Melania Trump and provided a window for emergency aid delivery and civilian evacuation amid ongoing conflict.
